By the age of ten, he was already playing the organ and piano at his local church, demonstrating a natural aptitude for music. This early passion led him to pursue formal training in classical piano and contrabass performance at the Schoo of the Creative and Performing Arts in his hometown of Cincinnati Ohio.
Throughout his career, Jimmie has amassed an impressive resume. By the age of fifteen, he had already played piano and contrabass in several productions, including renowned shows such as "The Wiz," "The Music Man," and "The King and I." His talent and dedication have culminated in over 35 years of experience and expertise in areas such as production, composition, arranging, engineering, electronics, and musical performance. These opportunities have allowed him to showcase his talent and develop a versatile skill set. In addition to his work in productions, Jimmie has toured and played for renowned artists such as Regina Bell, DrCharles Fold, Lashun Pace, Dorothy Norwood, Marvin Sapp, and Dottie Peoples.
Jimmie's musical prowess extends beyond performing and recording. He currently serves as the musical director and conductor of the Euclid Symphony Orchestra, and a past student conductor of the Cleveland State University Symphony Orchestra and Cleveland State University Big Band. He has also performed with the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra, Lakeland Symphony, Lakeland Civic Band, Cleveland Wind Ensemble, and the Skatch Andersson Big Band. In 2020, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition. Not content with his achievements, Jimmie returned to Cleveland State University and earned his Master's degree in Music Composition in 2023. In his pursuit of higher education Jimmie will begin his Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership which demonstrates his commitment to lifelong learning and his relentless drive for excellence.
Currently, Jimmie is embarking on his latest venture, the creation of The Colour of Music Symposium and The Colour of Music Academy for Composers and Conductors. in conjunction with the Northeast Ohio Philharmonic Orchestra. This academy and orchestra aim to focus on and feature minority composers, and conductors providing an inclusive platform for underrepresented voices in classical, jazz, and gospel music. His dedication to diversity and representation within the industry exemplifies his commitment to promoting the richness of different musical perspectives.
